After the success of Coach & Cast last year, Columbia Sportswear Indonesia once again invited fishing lovers, media and Columbia Performance Fishing Gear (PFG) customers to an overnight event consisting of night fishing and cooking on a peaceful, isolated island. Through the event, Columbia aims to deliver a unique fishing trip experience with Columbia PFG in Indonesia, and to introduce the Omni-Shade Sun Deflector, a new technology in the Spring Summer 2019 Collections.

Coach & Cast with Bayu Noer Season 2 was held from April 29 to 30, 2019, in Binuangeun – Banten, Southern Sea of the Indian Ocean. Over 30 fishing lovers and boat crew, including three lady anglers and one fisherman from Malaysia, participated in this event.

Bayu Noer, as Columbia PFG’s ambassador in Indonesia, shared his experience of jigging, strolling and bottom fishing techniques with all participants.

On the first day of their fishing trip, participants sailed from Binuangeun port to Rumpon Tuna, or Indonesia’s tuna fishing point, where they fished in the Indian Ocean from afternoon until sunrise the following morning. Participants were so lucky to catch anglers and yellow fin tuna. Their boats were also approached by a white whale shark.

By morning, participants tried the strolling fishing technique, and a lady angler managed to catch a tuna fish strike.

Towards noon, participants sailed for Tinjil Island, where they cooked with Chef Irfan, a chef from a four-star hotel in Jakarta. They made shrimp ceviche for appetizer, and yellow seasoned tuna with coconut pineapple rice for the main course.

After cooking and having lunch together, Columbia Sportswear Indonesia gave some door prizes from Hydro Flask and Columbia. They also shared about the latest Omni-Shade Sun Deflector technology that can protect one from the ultraviolet rays upon being exposed to direct sunlight.

Participants not only shared the yellow fin tuna that they caught, but they also shared together the wonderful memories and unforgettable experiences.
